Sierra Nevada is located in the Penibetic mountain range in Andalucia. It is Europe's southernmost ski resort and is endowed with the Iberian peninsula's highest summits. The resort is situated in the municipalities of Monachil, Guejar Sierra and Dilar near Granada's Costa Tropical and the Costa de Sol.
The resort's village, Pradollano is at an altitude of 2100 metres.
Pradollano has been hugely enhanced thanks to the addition of new alpine style buildings and the local environmental embellishment programme. One of the villages most important features is the four storey underground parking complex that can accommodate 2880 vehicles.
Approximately 170 km from Marbella, about two hours by car, the Sierra Nevada becomes a convenient location for a few days skiing when a change of scenery is required.
The village offers a wide variety of services including some quality hotels, ski lodges, apartments for sale and rental. With some of Spain's finest restaurants featuring local Andalusian and international cuisine.
Sierra Nevada's ski courses were designed by American and European specialists, giving excellent conditions for the skier and snow boarder. With a total of 61 km spread over 39 runs, along with 6 off course trails, Sierra Nevada offers a good selection of runs.
From Peak to village is a drop of 1300 metres and they have snow areas for all levels of confidence. The lifts are open from 0900 to 1630 daily and Friday and Saturday evenings for the more adventurous night time skier.
Most of the resort is covered by a snow making system for those days when nature fails us, and comes with the guarantee from the resort that the slopes will be open when there is not enough natural snow. The on-mountain facilities consist of four restaurants and several ski schools offering daily and weekly courses and apre ski activities.
